The Māori name Tūrama, meaning ‘Stand tall and shine,’ was inspired by the building's original project name, ‘The Lightbox’, chosen due to its abundance of natural daytime light and glowing appearance when illuminated at night.
Originally intended as an additional location for Kristin's sporting activities, Tūrama has evolved into a multi-purpose venue, occasionally hosting large school assemblies, community activities and major Kristin events such as the school’s 2023 50th Jubilee celebrations.
