DescriptionSt Anne's School operated as an independent co-educational school for 40 years, from 1932 to 1972. Founded by Mrs Nancy Langguth, an American educator, St Anne's began as a kindergarten in a rented house behind the post office on Earnoch Ave, Takapuna. It later moved to 2 Tennyson Avenue, Takapuna, where it remained a kindergarten and preparatory school. In 1935, after substantial growth, the school moved to 10 Gibbons Road, Takapuna, a three-acre site overlooking Takapuna Beach. In 1951/52 additional land was purchased opposite 10 Gibbons Road and a secondary school was added.
The closure of St Anne's in 1972 prompted a group of North Shore parents to establish Kristin, intrinsically linked to St Anne's, one school born out of the other's closure.
